Description
Blue linen Ikat flower designs from Bengal are traditional designs that date back to the medieval period in the Bengal region of India. These designs are created through a complex process of dyeing and patterning of the linen fabric. The fabric is first dyed with a indigo blue dye, and then the pattern of the design is created using a resist-dyeing technique called Ikat. This technique involves tying or stitching the cloth so that the dye will be repelled from certain sections of the fabric when it is immersed in the dye. Once the fabric is dried, the patterns become visible. The designs usually feature flower motifs, and often include intricate geometric patterns. The blue color and the intricate designs of these fabrics make them ideal for a variety of uses, such as quilting, clothing, and home décor.
