Get MembershipWhite Pure Handloom Dhakai Jamdani Cotton Saree is a traditional and iconic Bengali saree that is known for its exquisite craftsmanship and fine quality. It is a handwoven saree made with pure cotton yarns, which are locally known as ''katan''. This type of saree originated in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is now also woven in West Bengal, India. The word ''jamdani'' is derived from the Persian word ''jam'' meaning flower and ''dani'' meaning vase. This name is apt for these sarees as they are adorned with intricate floral motifs and designs that are woven into the fabric. These designs are created using a special technique called ''jamdani'' weaving, where the motifs are woven separately on a small loom and then integrated into the saree. The White Pure Handloom Dhakai Jamdani Cotton Saree is usually a six-yard long garment with a width of 42 inches.
